Spring moves – Budapest

Spring in Budapest is a time to empty the contents on your apartment in to the street. Our property agent mentioned that there is a definite season when people move into properties and this weekend seems to be it.
New tenants or old clear out the apartments and the resulting piles are picked through by a variety of people, from rough sleepers to professional scavengers stripping out cover and anything of value.
One scary looking guy had a bike mounted tool for splitting transformers cores to get the copper windings out. Many old CRT TVs had the gun end of the tube broken off, again I guess to get to the copper.
This was Saturday, come Sunday afternoon the only evidence on this street was a few silvers of broken glass in the gutter.
